BIOGRAPHY

Mark Godoy, founder of Surface Gems Decorative Finishes, has been creating beautiful art work since his younger days growing up in Belize.  As a self-taught artist, Mark mastered the art of using oil, acrylic and watercolor—first painting landscapes of his native land, and later creating everything from portraits, to skylines to still life.

Mark’s passion for art was transformed when he decided to take his talents to surfaces.  After being introduced to the world of faux painting, he knew it was a perfect fit to his career path.  He received training at two of the most esteemed schools for decorative arts, “Faux Effects Studio” in Florida and “The Finishing School” in New York; there he learned the important elements of the utilization of color, technique and style. He incorporated over 35 years of experience and talent into the world of decorative painting.

Mark is affiliated with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) as an Industry Partner; he is also a member of the International Decorative Artisans League (IDAL) and was featured in the 2009 winter issue of Artisphere Magazine. https://www.surfacegems.com/artisphere-magazine.
